A detached former Victorian Villa, The Sands Hotel has been subtantially extended over the years and has undergone a considerable amount of refurbishment works during the current owner's care. Glazed double doors from the front terrace open on to the entrance hall with reception desk and office. An enclosed terraced area to the front of the hotel overlooks the sea with a heated swimming pool. There is also an adjoining kiosk, which opens out onto the pavement and serves food and drinks, along with tourist related gifts, to the general public and has a seating area within the hotel grounds providing guests with hot and cold snacks and drinks throughout the day. The hotel has parking for up to 18 vehicles with coaches accommodated in a nearby Council owned car park.
Successfully operated by the current owners for more over 15 years, the hotel enjoys an excellent reputation and a high level of repeat business, trading almost year round (only closing during the month of January for maintenance and decoration). It provides quality accommodation for coach tour companies and private guest bookings.
Sandown is situated on the south eastern coast of the Isle of Wight, approximately 8 miles south east of the County town of Newport. Sandown is a popular tourist resort on the Island, attracting a high number of visitors all year round. It is linked also with the neighbouring towns of Shanklin and Lake via the cliff path and revetment which stretch along its extensive sandy beaches. The Sands Hotel has a frontage onto Culver Parade and is within a short and level walk of the main shopping area and local attractions and just across the road from Sandown's famed sandy beaches. The hotel's seafront location provides views across Sandown Bay towards Culver Down and beyond towards the English Channel. Visitors travelling to the Island without a car are able to travel by train from Ryde Pierhead stopping at Sandown's own railway station a short distance away.
