MORETON DOLOMITE MINE DESCRIPTION
The Moreton Dolomite mine produces Dolomite and Palygorskite for sale to the rural fertilizer and stock feed manufacturers. The company, the two mining leases, freehold land, all the equipment etc are for sale as one package
The main mining lease has approximately 800,000 tonnes of reserves. More drilling may improve resources. The mine owns the freehold title to the land that the main mining lease is on so there is no landowner to deal with. The nearest rural neighbour is over 300 meters away.
The Mine was Family owned and run and after the father died (2021) the mine was run by the son. In the end it was run by one man The mine owner (deceased 2022) was 65 and had a lifelong debilitating leg injury which severely limited his working ability. The mine owner performed all the digging, crushing, screening, truck loading, repair work and paperwork by himself. He had an aversion to employing people and was content to keep the mine at a small scale under 5000 Ton Per Year to avoid more regulation. Unfortunately, there is nobody alive to ask about the day to day running of the mine.
All stockpiled products were sold in 2022-23. All the machinery is up and running and the mine is under care and maintenance, and we are now running all the crushers and screening plants to produce samples. Crushed Dolomite was being sold for $110 per ton and Screened Palygorskite for $55 a ton in 2022-2023. The product was sold in bulk by the semi tipper load.
A Significant Opportunity exists to vastly increase mine production starting with just one or two extra people and one more wheel loader. Another massive opportunity exists to install a bagging plant and sell direct to retailers. A further opportunity exists to install product sheds and finer screening plants to produce finer Dolomite for the Retail, Medical and Stock ration / horse markets.
