That oak influence diminishes with age and repeated use, so producers must periodically replace barrel stock at significant cost. The RenewOak technology addresses this problem directly by restoring the working life of used barrels.
Barrel Rejuvenation Services Pty Ltd (In Liquidation), trading as RenewOak, was established in 2019 to commercialise the process. The technology supports two revenue pathways:
- Rejuvenation as a service – an economical treatment that extends the working life of a producer’s existing barrels
- Rejuvenated barrel supply – rejuvenated barrels supplied at a fraction of the cost of new oak
In both cases, the technology is designed to improve producer profitability while enhancing product quality.
