If you're searching for a special opportunity to arise, one that will change your life for the better, in a world of chaos and busyness, this is your chance to relax in paradise, and work on your tan, surf every day and live healthy while receiving a good income from this amazing beachfront hotel. The property and business are now being offered for sale, with a brand new website, completely turn key, and operating. The time has finally come for the original owner to retire after running the hotel for the past 35 years. This gold mine of a property has titled land all the way to the 50 meter high tide mark, directly in front of the main surf peak in Playa Grande. Also adjacent to the main parking lot where hundreds of tourists visit daily.
The construction of the hotel building is outstanding, with circular base, inspired by Egyptian pyramids. The space could use some upgrades aesthetically, but structurally it's like a fortress. All the custom wood furniture is in excellent condition. The main restaurant comes fully equipped, and has seating for up to 100 guests, with views to the ocean from the romantic wooden balcony.
Playa Grande is a gorgeous beach with over 3 kilometers of pristine golden sand to explore and world class surfing. Also near other secluded beaches to snorkel and enjoy. The town of Playa Grande is growing now after many years of being stuck in construction red tape, the municipality has begun to release permits for single family homes, keeping development controlled, and a mostly residential, low density development. Today, Playa Grande is still a small town with approximately 14 restaurants (All very good), and a few hotels and surf shops. It's located just north of the estuary from Tamarindo, (20 min by car) sharing the same bay, and only 1 hour from the international airport in Liberia. There's a brand new paved road all the way to the hotel, finished in April 2018. Playa Grande is named part of the National Marine Park Las Baulas, turtle nesting site, home to iguanas, howler monkeys, exotic birds, and even crocodiles, there's major attraction to this area for eco-tourism and naturalist tourists from around the world.
There are adjacent land parcels available for purchase for conservation purposes or eco-tourism exploitation. If you're an eager investor, you can also take advantage of the timing to negotiate for the hotel to include an additional 20 nearby apartments which the owner also has, but is not currently on the market. (contact agent for more details and prices regarding the separate apartments).

Pick which one of the hotel rooms you want to convert into an apartment and live there. Or use the new beach bungalow which already has a fully equipped kitchen.
The hotel has about 200 meters of Titled Beachfront. Playa Grande is gorgeous beach with over 3 kilometers of golden sand beach to explore and friendly waves for all levels of surfers. Just across the bay from the town of Tamarindo. Playa Grande is a protected nesting area for the Endangered Leatherback Sea Turtle, and the founder of this hotel helped to start a marine national park to protect the turtles. Development on the beach is now impossible due to the national park restrictions, which makes the location of this hotel all the more valuable. It will always be the only beachfront hotel in the area! Playa Grande currently has about 12 restaurants, around 260 homes, a convenience store, 2 small grocery stores, several surf shops and tourist shops, a health clinic and dental clinic. There is a brand new paved road all the way from the international airport in Liberia to the front of the Hotel (Completed in April 2018)! Liberia is about 1 hour away, and Tamarindo is just 20 min by car, or across the estuary by boat. The hotel was built about 30 years ago and needs updating, but the location is a once in a life time, unique and very coveted opportunity.
The hotel has over 200 meters of beachfront and is exactly right in front of the main break where hundreds of surfers visit every day. The beach is also an attraction for nature tourists and ecotourists who like to visit the nesting grounds of the Sea Turtles, and visit the national park office, which is just a 1/2 block away from the hotel.
The hotel has all permits and liquor licenses up to date.
There's room on the property to add more rooms, however, obtaining the permits will be the challenge. The best idea for expansion will be to drop a few containers on the corner for rental of a souvenire store, or a rental tourist office, with economy rooms on the second floor perhaps.
If the right investor appears, the owner of this hotel, is also will to sell his other property which has 20 apartments just 3 blocks away. There's your expansion!
There is no competition. This is the only beachfront hotel in Playa Grande, and there will most likely never be allowed to build any more this close to the beach in Playa Grande ever because of the heavy restrictions due to the National Marine Park.
The owner built the hotel almost 30 years ago as an eco-tourism destination. He is ready to retire, and has no heirs to inherit it. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity!
The owner will stay on board for training as long as necessary for up to 3 months.
